MISSION
The Himalayan Children's Fund is a way for people around the world, and the west in particular, to connect with the lives of people in the Himalayan Region of Nepal, India and Tibet. HCF provides support for Thrangu Rinpoche's many compassionate activities such as schools, monasteries and clinics. By providing support for education, food, clothing, medicine and other needs we hope to equip the children and adults with the tools necessary for life enhancement while helping to preserve the culture of the people which is primarily of Tibetan and Buddhist heritage.
With profound sadness, respect, and genuine devotion we report that our founder, the Lord of Refuge, Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche has passed into parinirvana.
After a long hospitalization, Thrangu Rinpoche returned to his monastic seat, Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery in Namo Buddha and on June 4, 2023, the full moon day of the fourth Tibetan month, known as Saga Dawa, our incomparably kind teacher decided that he had completed his activity for this life. At 1:30 PM, he lay down in the same posture as Buddha Shakyamuni had lain when passing into parinirvana and then displayed the appearance of his mind dissolving into the undefiled, luminous, dharma expanse; passing into peace. Himalayan Children’s Fund’s mission to support Thrangu Rinpoche’s many humanitarian activities will continue unchanged, honoring Rinpoche’s wish that the benefit will carry on for many more generations.
